The two teams will meet in the Champions League on Tuesday, a fact which has only intensified whispers that the Uruguayan is wanted by City boss Roberto Mancini.

“I’m not thinking about what is being said about me,” the former Palermo centre-forward noted on Monday.

“I’m just concentrating on Napoli. I want to do all that I can for this club that believed in me and for my teammates.

“I want to score tomorrow night to give some immense joy to this squad and the whole of this city.”

The striker has struggled at times in front of goal so far this term, but he’s confident that he’ll soon rediscover his touch.

“It’s just one of those moments which often occur,” he added. “I feel good and the Coach believes in me which is very important.

“I’m calm and just working hard to change this situation as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, City boss Mancini has cooled the speculation linking his club with the South American sensation.

“The good players are always interesting, but there is nothing in it,” Mancio responded. “We can’t buy everyone…”

Cavani has scored six goals in 13 games for the Stadio San Paolo outfit so far during this campaign.
