The striker is strongly linked with a move away from the San Paolo this coming summer, with clubs in both the Premier League and Spain said to be tracking his situation.

It is one that in facing the media this week on international duty, the 26-year-old was once more asked about.

“As a child I dreamed of playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona, but now I am proud to be at Napoli, this is important,” Cavani told reporters this week.

“On my future I cannot say anything, because I still do not know anything.

“I do not get distracted at all when I hear about offers and interest from other teams, I am used to it now.

“Honestly, I still have a contract and I just think about Napoli.

“After the Confederations Cup? I will have a few days off.”

Cavani is with Uruguay this week preparing for an upcoming World Cup qualifier away to Venezuela, which La Celeste need to win to have any hope of turning a poor campaign around.

“We are playing for everything, it will be a very difficult challenge. We hope that by being united and giving our best that we can bring home these points for the standings.

“It is clear that being Capocannoniere in Italy gives me more responsibility in the national team, but I do not feel the pressure.

“I have a group that supports me and a Coach that gives me confidence. I like that the whole country is expecting big things from me.”
