Thiago Silva admits he was truly torn when leaving Milan for PSG and is “stunned” by Antonio Cassano’s move to rivals Inter.

The defender was one of the transfer sagas of the summer, as at first his €42m move was rejected by the Rossoneri, but then accepted in a double deal with Zlatan Ibrahimovic two weeks later.

“When President Silvio Berlusconi blocked everything, I was a little surprised, but also relaxed as I was working with the Brazilian team at the Olympics,” revealed Thiago Silva in his presentation today.

“It was not easy to leave Milan, for me or for the club, but it was my choice and I stand by it. I had nothing to complain about during my three years at Milan and was treated well from the start.

“I gave everything I had. I wish the Rossoneri fans well and left them with great sadness. Now I am happy to be here and hope to do as well with Paris Saint-Germain as I did at Milan. I have belief in this project and want to be a part of it.”

Thiago Silva and Ibrahimovic’s sale is the main reason why Cassano wanted to quit, as he felt the team was being radically weakened.

This week FantAntonio moved across San Siro to join Inter in exchange for Giampaolo Pazzini.

“I’m stunned. I really couldn’t have imagined he would make the choice to join Inter, a rival team, so quickly. I do understand these things happen in football and I wish him the best. We had a great friendship and it will remain intact.”
