Gigi Casiraghi doesn’t think former club Lazio should consider sacking boss Vladimir Petkovic at this stage of the campaign.
The Coach’s future is in doubt after the capital club’s sluggish start to the season which has seen them pick up 15 points from 11 games. City rivals Roma have netted 16 points more already.
“It is one of those years with up and down results, they are playing without consistency and no recognized style of play,” Casiraghi, who spent five years with the Biancocelesti, told Il Tempo.
“They have really struggled against the bigger clubs.
“I don’t think there is a case to change the Coach though,” continued the former Italian Under-21 boss. “The season is still wide open.
“Petkovic is looking to give his side an identity with the right players involved. He still hasn’t found the correct mix, he just needs to find the balance that he had last season.”
Casiraghi also feels the squad is short of options, especially when it comes to their attacking department.
“The side is really missing an alternative to Miroslav Klose. The German is an extraordinary player, but he is no longer that young.
“There is also a lack of fantasy in midfield. The team is solid, but it is playing without the quality which Hernanes and Antonio Candreva should be providing.
“The suspension of Stefano Mauri is also being felt, a lot.”
Lazio travel to Parma this weekend.
