Juan Pablo Carrizo says he has double motivation to deny Udinese, as he can break Catania records and help his parent club Lazio.

The goalkeeper was signed by Lazio in 2007, but has repeatedly gone out on loan to River Plate, Real Zaragoza and as of January 2012 to Catania.

“Catania really does represent a rebirth for me,” he told the Corriere dello Sport. “It was a very important second chance for my career and I am happy to be in Sicily. I dreamed of this moment.

“In Catania I found the most important thing: the confidence of people who are around me. The faith of the club, the Coach and my teammates. I really missed that. I am happy here and hope Catania can do something to make the move permanent at the end of the season.”

In the meantime, Carrizo is still owned by Lazio and can do his old club a huge favour on Sunday. If Catania beat Udinese, then the Biancocelesti could still qualify for the Champions League.

“I hope to put in a good performance against Udinese and if we happen to give Lazio a hand… this is football. You inevitably end up favouring one side and penalising another with your results.

“However, we are playing only for Catania with the idea of reaching our objective, which is 50 points. Catania want to celebrate with their marvellous fans.”

Argentine shot-stopper Carrizo admits his time at Lazio was not exactly ideal and did not help him give his best.

“I had little time to make my mark, as I only played at Lazio for six months. I needed someone to put their faith in me and explain things, but I didn’t have that figure. You grow, train, go forward, learn and at the right moment the opportunity arrives for you to prove who you really are. My opportunity is in Catania and I’m happy about that.

“Lazio didn’t have faith in me and I’m happy Catania beat them thanks to my saves, but what makes me happier than anything is being appreciated in Catania. I achieved that.”
