Fabio Capello has blamed his England exit on a “misunderstanding” after speaking to a satirical Italian TV show.
The Striscia La Notizia team tracked down the tactician less than two days after he resigned as England manager over the John Terry captaincy issue.
“No, I didn’t escape,” he commented as he was handed the show’s Tapiro d’Oro – a Golden Tapir. “I left because there was a misunderstanding.
“I had a good time over there, but there are moments when you decide to leave.”
The former Juventus and Milan man has been linked with a possible job in Italy, but he insists that is not on his agenda.
“A future in Italy? No, absolutely not. For now I just want to relax.”
The Golden Tapir, of which Capello now has three, is a big part of the show and is handed to celebrities who’ve been in the news for the wrong reasons.
