The agent of Napoli stopper Paolo Cannavaro has cooled reports that his client will be heading for Inter in January.
The Nerazzurri have been paired given that boss Walter Mazzarri knows him well from his days in Naples and the defender is not part of Rafael Benitez’s first team plans.
“I can say that to be associated with a great club like Inter is a reason to be proud,” Gaetano Fedele told FC Inter News.
“But there is nothing new to report. The Nerazzurri expressed an interest in him during July and August, yet, right now, everything is at a standstill.
“And we haven’t spoken about the transfer market over the past few days…”
Cannavaro, the club captain, has only appeared in four Serie A games – a total of 266 minutes – for the Azzurri so far this season.
