Antonio Candreva admits Inter’s performance against Atalanta “was not up to standard” and he’s struggling with so little playing time.

The Nerazzurri had won seven Serie A games in a row before the devastating 4-1 defeat to Atalanta.

“We know that performance was not up to standard, but it’s difficult to talk about it right now. We are aware of our strengths and our quality. We are Inter and must learn from our mistakes,” Candreva told Sky Sport Italia.

“This season we have more self-belief and help each other out. It’s tough for everyone to play in Bergamo, but we conceded the final two goals because we were trying so hard to get back into the game.

“We’ve got to look forward now and realise no match is simple. We’ve dropped a lot of points along the way against the smaller clubs, so Frosinone are not to be underestimated.

“Only after that is done can we start to prepare for the trip to London against Tottenham Hotspur.”

Candreva has slipped down the pecking order in recent weeks, managing just one late substitute appearance in the last five Serie A rounds.

“It’s not easy, because of course nobody is happy when not playing. Inter have so many strong players that the important thing is to ensure I am ready when called upon.”
