The winger turns 32 next month and is one of the club’s longest-serving players, arriving from Real Madrid for €9.5m in the summer of 2013.

“His contract expires in 2020 and we’ve received no word on a new deal. I know the club is very happy with his performances and President Aurelio De Laurentiis really admires him, as do the fans and Carlo Ancelotti,” agent Manuel Garcia Quilon told Calciomercato.it.

“I don’t know why we haven’t yet started negotiating. We’d need a proposal to start discussions, but he hasn’t received a new contract proposal and I don’t know why that is.

“It’s beyond doubt that the player is happy in Naples, as over the years he has shown his love for this city, the jersey and the fans. He is a professional beyond reproach, gets along with all his teammates and gives his soul on the pitch. You can be certain he’ll continue to do that.”
