Davide Ballardini has been confirmed as the new Coach of Cagliari by the mid-table Serie A outfit.

The 47-year-old, who will take charge of his first training session later today before being unveiled to the media, has put pen to paper on a Rossoblu contract for the third time in his career.

Ballardini spent time with the club in the top flight during the 2005-06 and 2007-08 campaigns. In the latter he saved the club from what looked like inevitable relegation.

The Coach, who left Genoa in the summer, has said yes to Cagliari after recently rejecting job offers from both Bologna and Cesena.

Ballardini will be assisted by Carlo Regno, Stefano Melandri, Andrea Rinaldi and Nico Facciolo at the Stadio Sant’Elia.

He’ll take charge of his first game in Week 12 when Cagliari face Inter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Ballardini is Cagliari’s third boss of the campaign after Roberto Donadoni was sacked in pre-season and Massimo Ficcadenti was axed last night.
