Boca Juniors sporting director Nicolas Burdisso has called on his former Roma teammate Daniele De Rossi to join him in Argentina.
The Giallorossi recently announced they would not be offering a contract extension to the 35-year-old, and he will be a free agent in the summer.
Fans have been protesting the decision all week, with even Coach Claudio Ranieri stating the situation had been handled badly.
De Rossi himself was surprised by the news that he would no longer play for Roma, although he promised he would continue his playing career elsewhere.

“I think his future could be with us,” Burdisso told Fox Sports Argentina, amidst speculation Boca could sign the midfielder.
“Even though at the moment it is more hope than reality, Daniele is a friend. I speak to him regularly and, for a player like him, our door is always open.
“Now, obviously I don’t want to put too much pressure on him because I’m sure it will be very difficult for him to say goodbye to Roma.”
De Rossi has been with the capital club since 2000 and has gone on to play 615 times for the Lupi.
