Brentford are ready to make their second Serie A signing this summer as they prepare to welcome Mikkel Damsgaard from Sampdoria.

The Premier League side picked up Scottish full back Aaron Hickey from Bologna earlier this summer and they continued looking to Italy for other possible deals. The 22-year-old Damsgaard hardly featured last season at Sampdoria due to a thigh injury, but he’s still highly rated around Europe following his two goals at Euro 2020.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Sampdoria have accepted Brentford’s €20m total offer for Damsgaard and the two clubs have now signed the relevant documents as they work to complete the deal. The operation will see the Premier League side pay a €14m flat fee with €6m in add-ons.

The Danish winger is set to undergo his medicals with the English club next week before putting pen to paper on his new contract.

Damsgaard won’t arrive in time to take part in Brentford’s Premier League opener against Leicester City, but he could appear in their next game against Manchester United on August 13.
