Lazio are on the verge of signing Fabio Borini from Sunderland in a deal worth a total of €5.5m.

The 26-year-old is seen as an ideal understudy to first choice centre-forward Ciro Immobile, therefore releasing Filip Djordjevic.

According to Il Messaggero newspaper, Borini would arrive on loan for €1m with obligation to buy at the end of the season for another €4.5m.

It would be a return to the Stadio Olimpico, as Borini had played for Roma in 2011-12 and was sold to Liverpool for €13.3m.
