Giacomo Bonaventura admits he has been 'impressed and surprised' by Milan since arriving over the summer.

The 25-year-old has settled into life at the Rossoneri quickly following his deadline-day switch from Atalanta, and the midfielder has now revealed that he would happily see out the remainder of his career at the club.

“I have been impressed by the standard of my teammates, the mentality and the importance of the club in the media,” he told Corriere della Sera.

“It’s a great club with the desire of a provincial side. I want to stay here for as long as I can, to return to the top of football.

“We must aim to do our best. I think that in a short while we can even be a nuisance to Juventus and Roma. And we hope to finish ahead of Inter.

“Inzaghi? I was surprised by the passion he instils in us and for his attention to detail. He loves his players.”

Bonaventura then addressed Sunday's city derby with Inter and allayed any notions of negativity surrounding the fixture.

“I have already scored four times against them, it would be great to score in the derby,” he added.

“Is this a subdued derby? I do not like all this pessimism. I am 25, have been called up to the national team, I play in Milan, I have no reason to be negative.

“And I do not believe it is the right mindset with which to return to success. It will not be a subdued derby.

“The arrival of Mancini does not particularly affect us. Perhaps something will change at the tactical level, but on the field, after a few minutes, we will see.

“They will have more motivation, they will want to demonstrate this. Who will decide the derby? I will say El Shaarawy – he has just scored, he has confidence.”
