Bologna have revealed that they could have signed Sergio Floccari instead of Alberto Gilardino this summer.
Gila arrived on transfer deadline day from Genoa, but only after the Rossoblu had tried to net Lazio’s Floccari.
“Gilardino had expressed an interest to join us, but we initially turned our attention to Floccari for tactical reasons,” Bologna chief Albano Guaraldi told the Corriere dello Sport.
“But Floccari decided to wait for another team to make him an offer which didn’t arrive. He got back in touch with us on deadline day, but by then we preferred to take Gilardino.
“The latter really wanted to join us.”
It is thought that Floccari was hoping to get a late offer from Inter. Gilardino has already scored three goals in three games for the Dall’Ara boys.
