Bologna's chaotic campaign continued as director of sport Carmine Longo was abruptly fired last night.

The club has risked bankruptcy throughout the season and been through several Presidents.

This week Longo had been asked to build a squad for next term, but made statements to the media suggesting he would probably leave in the summer.

“I do not feel at ease in this situation of continual change. Every week the newspapers have something different. I do not understand what's happening and nothing is particularly clear, so I feel carrying on would be a mistake.

“I will not resign, as I was asked to stay to the end of the season no matter what.”

The club apparently was not aware of this interview to news agency ANSA and hit back with a dismissal.

“Having realised Longo's decision not to extend his rapport with the club for the 2011-12 season, Bologna opted to remove him from his position with immediate effect,” read a statement.

“We thank him for the work done for Bologna and wish him the best for his future professional career.”

There are also major doubts over whether Coach Alberto Malesani will be confirmed for next season.
