Thiago Motta has emerged as the new favourite for the Paris Saint-Germain job and Bologna are reportedly pessimistic over their chances of keeping the Italian-Brazilian.

The Ligue 1 giants have decided to part ways with Christophe Galtier and have been looking for a replacement for a number of weeks now. Julian Nagelsmann seemed to be one of their top choices but the German reportedly rejected their interest, forcing them to look elsewhere.

Motta took over at Bologna back in September following the departure of Sinisa Mihajlovic and impressed across his 32 Serie A matches in charge, picking up an average of 1.5 points per match in that time with a positive brand of football.

As reported by French outlet Foot Mercato, Bologna now expect to lose Motta to PSG and have already started drawing up a list of possible replacements.

In recent days, discussions between the coach and the club regarding their summer transfer market plans fractured the relationship, and the 40-year-old is now waiting for an official offer from the Ligue 1 giants.

Three replacements currently being considered by Bologna are Luca Gotti, Gabriele Cioffi and Andrea Pirlo, with Gennaro Gattuso and Igor Tudor also being possible candidates.
