The Milan star hit headlines around the world on January 3 when he stormed off during a friendly match in Busto Arsizio after repeated racist abuse from a small section of locals.
His teammates followed him into the locker room and the scandal eventually saw those fans handed prison sentences ranging from 40 days to two months.
“It was an exemplary sentence,” Boateng told Sky Sport Italia.
“At the time I said I felt like going abroad to play my football, but I was just angry. I never really wanted to leave Italy. I am happy here.”
