“We won an important game against Celtic and we needed to play a game like that to show that we can do well,” the midfielder told Milan Channel.
“It was a decisive match and we won it.
“I expect that we’ll play against Catania like we played against Celtic. We have to keep on going like this. Things didn’t go our way against Genoa last week, but we played well.”
Boss Massimiliano Allegri has tried various shapes over the last 12 months, but Birsa has played down the importance of systems.
“Rather than talking about formations, the important thing is that the players give 100 per cent when they’re on the pitch,” he added.
“The team needs everyone working together. After that, results will come.”
