New Atalanta midfielder Davide Biondini is feeling confident ahead of Saturday’s short trip to San Siro to face Milan.

The Bergamo side have won just once in the last 15 games against the Rossoneri, taking a total of five points, but Biondini believes they can emulate Sampdoria’s opening day victory at the Giuseppe Meazza.

“Right now it doesn’t seem like the unbeatable Milan of years ago,” he told TuttoAtalanta.it.

“They are, however, a team that is difficult to break down. We will have to be good at exploiting the few chances that we get, and we must not only wait and defend.

“To play at San Siro is always difficult. I don’t think the pitch will be favourable to us. We must be compact, but they will want revenge after the first defeat.”

Biondini will face up against former Coach Max Allegri and the 29-year-old has fond memories of their time together at Cagliari.
“With him I had two of my best seasons and I was called up to the national team. I have a very good memory of him because he helped me grow up a lot.”

Biondini hasn’t had much time to adjust to his new team after leaving Genoa on the last day of the transfer window, but started both games against Lazio and Cagliari.

“I’m getting used to the way Stefano Colantuono works and slowly I’m integrating with the rest of the group. I’m playing the position I know best, but it still takes time. Every formation is interpreted differently by each Coach.

“On Saturday we must look for every way to reduce the minus points in the table. It’s a situation that always makes us look for points, whoever the opponent.”

Atalanta started the season from -2 due to the betting scandal.
