German newspapers claim Schalke 04 are ready to make a January offer for Milan striker Fernando Torres.
The Spanish forward arrived over the summer on a two-year loan deal from Chelsea, but has scored only one goal in five Serie A games.
According to German newspaper Bild, new Schalke 04 Coach Roberto Di Matteo has specifically requested Torres for the January transfer market.
Di Matteo already worked with Torres at Chelsea, where they won the Champions League together.
If Torres continues to stutter, then Milan could well consider giving up on him just six months into this two-year deal.
Pippo Inzaghi used a 4-3-3 formation at the start of the season with Jeremy Menez as a False 9 and could well return to that tactic if Torres leaves.
The Spain international has also been linked with a return to Atletico Madrid.
