New Roma defender William Bianda chose this route because “they had the best project for my career and growth as a player.”
The 18-year-old made the move from Lens for €6m plus up to €5m in performance-related bonuses.
“This is a big change for me and it’s an honour to be here,” said the defender in his presentation press conference.
“I realise there will be a lot of competition and I must learn from more experienced players, so that when the Coach calls on me, I am ready to deliver.

“I came to Roma because they had the best project for my career and my growth as a player. Now I am at a top club and I am not thinking about anything else.
“Eusebio Di Francesco works very well with young players and we had a good chat. He’s very nice, we’ll work hard this season.”
Bianda has been compared to France star Raphael Varane.
“We came from the same youth academy and he is a champion, certainly one of the players I look up to and want to learn from.”
