Juventus’ Federico Bernardeschi says he is ready to shed his jack-of-all-trades reputation and become Maurizio Sarri’s right winger.
Bernardeschi has been played in a variety of positions throughout his career but started on the right of an attacking trident in Sarri’s first game as Juve boss on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur.
“Sarri sees me as a right winger,” he told reporters.
“Having a specialised position can help me find consistency. I think I can do great things between now and the end of my career, but in terms of the present I’m giving my all every day. It’s easier that way.
“With Sarri we play with the ball a lot and at a very high rhythm: these are the main changes.
“There’s an important identity to our game and a different attitude to the one we had last year. With a more structured game, all the forwards benefit from it, including Ronaldo.
“Every year can be our year in the Champions League, but there’s also luck and small details to take into account.
“If I had to choose our biggest rivals for the Scudetto, I’d say Inter and Napoli.”
The 25-year-old joined the Bianconeri from Fiorentina in the summer of 2017, despite the rivalry between the two clubs.
Federico Chiesa is being linked with making the same move, so what does his former teammate think?
“It’s right that he decides alone, only he can decide for himself. For me, that was crucial: we played together for two years and we’ve been together in the national team, but I always leave the lads alone.”
