Former Milan defender Billy Costacurta believes President Silvio Berlusconi “wants to get rid of Max Allegri.”
The meeting with Coach Allegri and Vice-President Adriano Galliani to discuss the future has been postponed repeatedly due to the patron’s unavailability.
Berlusconi is currently in Sardinia and will be flying to Georgia on Friday for Kakha Kaladze’s testimonial match, where he’ll meet up with potential new Coach Clarence Seedorf.
“The news that the meeting has been cancelled is very enigmatic,” insisted Costacurta on Sky Sport Italia.
“I didn’t think up until today that Allegri’s departure was so certain, but now we’ve got to understand why President Berlusconi didn’t want to leave Sardinia.
“Knowing Berlusconi, I think he’s not coming back because he wants to get rid of Allegri and no longer wants to even speak to him.
“I get the impression Allegri is done with Milan. He was Galliani’s choice and a visceral character, so I think only a clash of personalities could have taken them to this point.”
Berlusconi has consistently criticised Allegri’s decisions, both in private and public.
Some media sources suggested this latest tactic of cancelling meetings is to push the Coach into resigning rather than waiting to be fired.
