Rafa Benitez insisted “it wasn’t easy” after Napoli demolished Trabzonspor 4-0 in Turkey.
The result could well have been 5-0, but Dries Mertens fired a penalty wide in the closing stages.
It’s safe to say it will take a miracle for Trabzonspor to qualify after his first leg result on home turf.
“It wasn’t easy. We decided to keep playing the same tempo even after going 3-0 up,” Benitez told Mediaset Premium.

“We also got a fourth goal and I am satisfied. We did well throughout the game and were in complete control.”
This result was a necessary boost after the Partenopei were beaten 3-1 by Palermo last week.
“We made mistakes in Palermo, but the overall performance was good. Today we did everything right. Let’s not forget we were consistent with four consecutive victories and only lost at Palermo.
“We still lack the maturity to play every game well. It’s an issue of experience and being accustomed to victory. We’re still growing.”
Manolo Gabbiadini made his UEFA debut this evening and was in stunning form, scoring a goal and providing an assist.
“We knew Gabbiadini was strong. We signed him for the present and the future of Napoli.”
