Rafa Benitez said Napoli “could’ve done more” in their 3-0 win over Slovan Bratislava and the Europa League “is a tough competition.”
The Partenopei topped Group I thanks to this result and are seeds in Monday’s draw for the Round of 32.
“These are games you have to win, but the team could’ve done more. We are satisfied, but could’ve scored some more goals tonight,” he told Sport Mediaset.

Marek Hamsik was on target against his old club, as he grew up in the Slovan Bratislava youth academy.
“He did what he normally does: work hard, show his quality and today also scored. I said before the game he is an important player for our season.
“Marek is the only player with absolute freedom, as he can go right, left or stay in the middle. Previously Napoli focused more on counter-attacks and sitting deep, so Hamsik had more space in front of him. Things are different now, but I am sure he will score more important goals.”
Benitez certainly knows the Europa League better than anyone else, having already won it, most recently with Chelsea.
“Ultimately the Coach changes nothing unless the team on the field does what it needs to do. I know from experience this is a difficult tournament and having one Coach or another is not an advantage. You need the right mentality to go forward.”
Napoli go head-to-head with Milan for European places in their next Serie A clash.
“The Milan match will be very difficult, as we know they have quality players who can make the difference in a moment.
“We have faith in ourselves and know we must avoid the mistakes we’ve made in the past. As for the market, it’s too early to say. The President has shown he is active on the market and we’ll see what happens.”
Benitez was also asked about the Italian Super Cup, which will be played in Doha on December 22.
“It was difficult to find the right day to play, so we’re playing it then. We know Juventus are a tough side and we must be concentrated with the desire to win another trophy.”
