Benevento’s President claims “it’s better to send money to Africa” than sign players without “a clear vision” in place.
Wholesale changes are expected at Benevento in January after losing all 13 of their Serie A fixtures to date, but Oreste Vigorito made it clear he would not resort to desperate measures in the transfer market.
“Benevento could never be accused of not putting their hands in their wallets, but you don’t win by doing that,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.

“You only spend if you have a clear vision of who to sign. Otherwise, it’s better to send money to Africa.
“We don’t have a sporting director, but we have coaches, consultants, scouts, plus the market is carried out by Presidents, not sporting directors. If there isn’t someone that can pay up, you can’t move forward [in the market].”
Vigorito also expressed hope that captain Fabio Lucioni could have his doping ban reduced after he reiterated the defender was ‘innocent’.
“I hope and pray that it can be reduced further,” he added.
“The lad is innocent. The prosecutor asked for the minimum sentence, so I hope the judges can be more lenient to a player that crowned his dream of playing in Serie A and can’t be blamed. I’m proud to have him in my team.”
