The defender completed a €26m move out to Bavaria, which in the way the player has since commented, has caused fallout with the Giallorossi.
Considering his reasons once more for the switch, the 27-year-old has reflected on the pull of the Bundesliga champions.
“During the last transfer window I had many offers, but when I knew that Bayern Munich were interested, it was clear that I would continue my career there.
“Roma are a great club in Italy and are one of the best prospects in Europe, but Bayern are among the top three teams in the world.
“I wanted to go Munich to win many titles. It was impossible to refuse an offer from Bayern.
“My wife and I are very happy in Munich. The city is beautiful, clean and cosy, whilst even if people recognise me they leave me alone.
“It’s very different from what happens in Morocco or in Rome, where it was impossible for me to walk alone.
“At Bayern I have found the highest level of professionalism in every field. The level of the team is very high.
“For me it is not always easy because I have not yet found my best shape. Players like Lahm, Robben, Alaba and Gotze are incredibly strong.
“Lahm reminds me of Totti – always at the same club, always with top level performance and always modest. These are real champions.”
