Former Lazio President Sergio Cragnotti reveals the club almost signed Gabriel Batistuta before he joined Roma.
The Argentinian striker spent nine years at Fiorentina, but the Viola were forced to sell him due to financial difficulties.
Batigol joined Lazio's bitter rivals Roma in a €25m deal, and fired the Giallorossi to the Scudetto with 20 goals in his first season, but Cragnotti reveals things could have been very different.

“Before he went to Roma, Batistuta was one step away from Lazio,” the former President revealed to Radio Ies.
“He was pretty much ours, he pushed very hard to join the Biancocelesti. Then there with problems with the conduct of [former Fiorentina President Vittorio] Cecchi Gori and we gave up on signing him.”
Cragnotti also offered a prediction for Sunday’s Rome derby, and unsurprisingly forsees a win for the Aquile.
“I see a very good Lazio, and I think they’ll win 2-0.”
