Mario Balotelli will reportedly miss Italy’s World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Malta so he can undergo eye surgery.
The Manchester City striker has already skipped games at club level due to conjunctivitis and is increasingly irritated at needing to wear contact lenses.
In order to sort the problem out once and for all, Balotelli is set to undergo laser eye surgery on September 4 to reduce his myopia (short-sightedness).

In order to sort the problem out once and for all, Balotelli is set to undergo laser eye surgery on September 4 to reduce his myopia (short-sightedness).
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the surgery will take place in Italy on Tuesday and keep him out of action for 10 days.
This could well rule Balotelli out of Manchester City’s huge Champions League trip to Real Madrid and his reunion with old ex-Inter ‘enemy’ Jose Mourinho.
Italy begin their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign against Bulgaria in Sofia on September 7 and then welcome Malta to the Stadio Braglia in Modena on September 11. Cesare Prandelli names his squad on Sunday.
