Mario Balotelli predicts Italy will go on and win Euro 2016, after beating Spain yesterday.

The Liverpool striker fired the Azzurri to the final four years ago, but is watching from home this summer.

“My two goals against Germany in 2012? It’s a game everyone remembers because it’s a semi-final,” Balotelli recalled, speaking to Goal.

“I don’t like to talk about my goals or matches from the past, because it’s the past. Of course it’s nice to remember, but I want to look forward.

“I’ve had two difficult years, it’s beautiful to talk about four years ago but I want to look forward.

“Why do Italy always beat Germany? It’s football. Who will win Euro 2016? Italy.

“It doesn’t matter who the final is against, if Italy win it doesn’t matter. I don’t wish bad luck to anyone, honestly I want Italy to win because we got to the final last time and didn’t win.

“Playing a final and losing is really bad, so I’m cheering for Italy to reach the final. I hope the best player at the European Championships is an Italian.”
