He will return to Anfield this summer and Il Giornale has reported today that the Premier League outfit will attempt to send him straight back to Italy.
The newspaper writes that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of La Viola’s Ilicic and will suggest a swap deal to send Balo to Florence in exchange for the Slovenian.
However, a potential problem blocking the move is Balotelli’s salary, as his current €3.5m per season deal would be too much for Fiorentina to afford.
Therefore the striker would have to accept a reduction in his wages if the swap deal were to go through.
Ilicic has been one of the Viola’s star performers this season, scoring 12 goals and contributing six assists in 24 appearances. His current deal in Florence runs until 2018.
