Davide Ballardini believes Bologna will stay in Serie A and he’ll keep his job after a 2-0 home defeat to Atalanta.

“The team did what it had to against a side in good shape that notched up a sixth straight win,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“I cannot ask for more from my players, as they gave it everything they had and we simply couldn’t finish off our chances.

“Can we recover the situation? Absolutely. Don’t forget as things stand right now we are not in the relegation zone. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. The team wants to get out of this situation and we will do it.”

The fans protested during the game at the Stadio Dall’Ara, while others simply walked out, fuelling reports Stefano Pioli will be recalled to the bench.

“I don’t know anything about that,” said Ballardini. “Do I feel the club has faith in me? Yes.

“We take the jeers, as people who go to the stadium have every right to express their dissatisfaction. I was very disappointed by our performance on Wednesday against Chievo, but it was a good game today.”

Bologna are currently fourth from bottom with 26 points from 31 games, followed by Livorno on 24, Sassuolo 21 and Catania 20 – all after 30 matches.
