The 23-year-old only left the Stadio Olimpico last summer, but respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims he could be about to head back to Serie A.

The transfer expert states on his website that Inter held talks with Balde last summer before the player opted to join Monaco.

And the San Siro club are now back in for the Senegal international, with negotiations with the Ligue 1 club at an advanced stage.

It is thought Inter want to sign Balde on an initial loan deal, with an option to sign him outright next summer.

In return, the Nerazzurri may offer Candreva – also on an initial loan – in part-exchange.

Gazzetta dello Sport are also reporting the possible transfer of Balde, with the Italian daily believing any deal would have a total value of around €30m.

Balde scored eight goals in 23 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco last season.
