The Dutchman was appointed as Roberto Mancini’s replacement two weeks before the season started, but was dismissed after losing seven of his 14 games.
“If you lose 50 per cent of your games it’s impossible to go forward,” Ausilio told Premium Sport.
“Let’s give time to [Stefano] Pioli to build him team.”

Ausilio was also asked about Marcelo Brozovic, who was excluded from the squad after reacting angrily to being substituted by De Boer.
