They held an open training session at the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia in a bid to get the fans’ passion firing up the squad.
However, it went too far when 1,500 ultras staged a protest and the leader called all the players over to the Curva for 15 minutes to lecture them.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the fans asked players not to be seen around in nightclubs when the team was doing so badly.
They also threatened to sarcastically applaud anyone who makes a wrong pass against Sassuolo tomorrow.
The only players who seemed to be reassured by the ultras were Maxi Moralez and German Denis.
Atalanta are fourth from bottom and only four points clear of the relegation zone.
