Coach Stefano Colantuono says Atalanta “will be playing for Ivan Ruggeri” against Inter after the former President died this morning.
The ex-club owner had been in a coma since 2008 when he suffered a brain haemorrhage, but passed away at the age of 68.
“It is difficult to talk about football right now, as I was very close to the President,” said Colantuono in a brief Press conference.
“He was the one who wanted me here and I will always be grateful to him for that. We are close to the Ruggeri family in this moment of sorrow.
“Tomorrow in Milan we will be playing for Ruggeri, as we want a positive result to dedicate to him.”
All teams in Serie A will play wearing black armbands this weekend to mark his death.
