New Roma Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli confirmed how different he is from Zdenek Zeman by stating “the tactical system counts for nothing.”
The technical coach was promoted to the main job after Zeman’s dismissal on Saturday and has worked at the club in the staff of Luciano Spalletti, Vincenzo Montella, Luis Enrique and Zeman.
“The players count 100%, and the system counts for nothing. It’s simply the end result of the characteristics of different elements,” he told the official Roma website.
“Someone once said, ‘If the Coach is doing no harm then he’s doing a good job.’ And I agree. If the Coach manages to coordinate the energy well then he’s doing a lot. Otherwise, he can only take away from the team. The players are the ones with the leading roles.”
Andreazzoli was asked who he was inspired by during his career and picked ex-Milan legend Arrigo Sacchi.
“If anyone made an impression on me in the past it’s Sacchi. Before his time football was being played without being studied in depth.
“Another important figure for me is Silvio Baldini. As a player he never played at a high level, and as a Coach he started from the bottom and made it to the Serie A. He has a natural gift for the game.”
The tactician who had been Spalletti’s assistant manager also revealed some of his pastimes.
“I like mountain biking, running, swimming, going out in the snow and playing tennis.”
