Aurelio Andreazzoli feels Roma ultimately earned their win over Fiorentina and was “irritated” at the constant speculation over his job.

The Giallorossi snatched a 1-0 victory in stoppages at the Stadio Franchi with Pablo Daniel Osvaldo to put them within four points of third place, even if Milan have a game in hand.

“It is pleasing because we have given a sense of consistency to what we’ve already done,” said the man who replaced Zdenek Zeman in February as interim Coach.

“We are satisfied, as we came here to play against a very strong team who play entertaining football. I enjoyed myself preparing for the game and making tactical moves and counter-moves during the match.

“I think the first half was balanced, then Fiorentina put us under pressure, but we adjusted our system and held out well. We also had three or four dangerous counter-attacks that could’ve paid off.

“Admittedly, Fiorentina will feel hard done by after hitting the upright twice, but considering the way we approached the game I think we deserved the win.”

Before kick-off director Franco Baldini insisted the constant speculation over Roma’s next Coach was ignoring the potential for Andreazzoli to keep his job.

“I am tired of repeating the same things,” added Andreazzoli when asked about the reports on Walter Mazzarri or Massimiliano Allegri taking over.

“What irritates me is that inside the locker room we work only to help Roma climb up the table, while outside people want to talk about anything but our opponents or the task in hand.

“We are keeping ourselves focused on the objective and this is not the best way for the media and fans to help us achieve it.”

Maarten Stekelenburg was out injured, then Bogdan Lobont went off at half-time with a suspected fractured nose, so Mauro Goicoechea proved decisive as third choice goalkeeper.

“I just told him to do what he knows that he can. He’s in great form and really would deserve to play, as he has improved considerably and is showing all his value. I wanted to reassure him and show him my respect.”

Goicoechea had been the first choice under Zeman, but was dropped after a series of howlers.
