Carlo Ancelotti confirmed he has come to Napoli with “the aim to conquer the Scudetto 28 years later” at “one of the greatest teams in Italy.”
The tactician signed a three-year contract today in his return to Serie A for the first time since leaving Milan in 2009.
“The Italian Coach returns to the Calcio to coach a great team from the south of Italy. Their aim is to conquer the Scudetto 28 years later,” read a statement on Ancelotti’s personal website.
“Carlo Ancelotti has chosen. After considering plenty of offers from European and Asian clubs, as well as from the Italian Federation, the Coach has picked SSC Napoli, a challenge that is both beautiful and thrilling.
“The interesting proposal from Aurelio de Laurentiis, President and owner of the Neapolitan club, and the chance of meeting Calcio again and his country ended up with Carlo Ancelotti signing for Napoli after his stage at Bayern Munich.
“Carlo Ancelotti has signed for three seasons and his challenge is to return Napoli to the highest position of the Serie A and reach the Champions League.
“In the midst of Napoli’s improvement after two seasons fighting against Juventus for the Scudetto, the Neapolitan club trusts Ancelotti to increase the quality that will lead them to conquer the League 28 years later.
“An aim that isn’t easy as Napoli has only won the Scudetto twice in 92 years of existence, although they have 5 Cups of Italy, 2 Italian Supercups and one UEFA Cup.
“A great challenge lover, Carlo Ancelotti confronts this new stage in Italy and in Napoli with great commitment and enthusiasm: “I’m very happy to return to my country and to one of the greatest teams in Italy. We come to compete and give Napoli all our knowledge and experience. We are thrilled by this challenge and to open a new stage in Calcio”.
“The Coach from Reggiolo, happy to coach again, gives a message to the club and fans: “I want to thank the President for trusting me in a project that I love and for the chance to get to know one of the best clubs in Italy. To all of them I say that we will work hard and very professionally to reach our goals that we all want. I hope we can all enjoy together”.
