Carlo Ancelotti felt Napoli “could’ve scored a lot more goals and lost our focus towards the end” of a 3-1 Europa League victory at FC Zurich.
Lorenzo Insigne, Jose Callejon and Piotr Zielinski got the goals, but Benjamin Kololli converted a late penalty and the hosts hit the woodwork in stoppages.
“Europe is always special. We did pretty well, it’s a good result,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after his first ever Europa League game.

“Europe is always special. We did pretty well, it’s a good result,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after his first ever Europa League game.
“We attacked well, the finishing was a bit better than against Fiorentina, but we still could’ve scored a lot more goals and created so many opportunities.
“We lost our focus a little towards the end. I must say the pitch was bad and the ball even worse. It’s very light and has a different trajectory to the one used in the Champions League or Serie A. If UEFA want to build up the Europa League, they should start by doing something about the ball.
“Insigne and Zielinski positions are the keys to our approach. They play between the lines and we found them more for direct attacks largely because Allan and Fabian were being pressed. I think those roles suit them and their characteristics.”
Marek Hamsik completed his transfer to Dalian Yifang this afternoon and has been effectively replaced in midfield by Fabian Ruiz.
“Fabian Ruiz is a player who still needs to develop, as at times he takes a break during the match and loses focus. He has great potential and is very different to Hamsik. He doesn’t have the same vision as Hamsik, but can play the ball in tighter spaces.
“Perhaps we do better at home because the players feel more relaxed and comfortable.”
