Fabio Cannavaro has been appointed as head coach of Saudi Arabian champions Al-Nassr.
The 42-year-old, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006 and starred at club level for Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter, Parma and Napoli, was confirmed as coach earlier today.
Cannavaro’s only other coaching experience up to this point has been with Dubai outfit Al-Ahlil and Guangzhou Evergrande in China, who he left in the summer.
The Saudi side he joins were previously coached by current Sampdoria boss Walter Zenga in 2010.

“Al-Nassr signed a contract with Fabio Cannavaro to be head coach until the end of the season, congratulations!” the club wrote on Twitter.
“Al-Nassr head coach will arrive tomorrow 4:40pm at King Fahad Int’l Airport, welcome to Saudi Arabia Fabio Cannavaro.”
