PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is expecting a ‘very interesting clash with Atalanta’ in the Champions League quarter-final. ‘We can’t wait.’
It will be a one-off knockout match in Lisbon as part of the Final Eight tournament format on August 12-15.
“We’re looking forward to an interesting clash with Atalanta, an opponent that we'll respect as always and who have cemented their place this season as one of the best Italian teams currently,” the President told the official PSG website.
“We can’t wait to enjoy that special feeling of this competition again, and although it’s a new format for the Champions League, and unfortunately not all our supporters can join us in Lisbon, I know we can count on the extraordinary support of all our fans in Paris, in France and around the world.
“We know how much they are looking forward to sharing strong emotions again with their club.
“But first we have two national cup finals to play at the end of the month. These will be two top level matches for our players and staff. They're fully focused on these two games and, after that, rest assured, they'll be putting their hearts into honouring our jersey in the Champions League.”
While Serie A resumed after the lockdown, Ligue 1 was abandoned, meaning PSG are sorely lacking match fitness.
They will have just two competitive games before facing Atalanta, the Coupe de France Final with Saint-Etienne on July 24 and Coupe de la Ligue Final with Olympique Lyonnais on July 31.
