Carlos Bacca’s agent confirms “Napoli were interested” but “he’s happy to stay at Milan”.

The Partenopei have been looking for a striker to replace Gonzalo Higuain, with the Colombian touted as one of their top targets.

“Carlos is fine, he’s happy to stay in Milan and he’s hoping to have a good season,” Sergio Barila said on Radio Crc.

“We know his qualities, but to score a hat-trick in the first game [against Torino] means the team can rely on him and they should continue on this path.

“He’s immediately established a rapport with [Coach Vincenzo] Montella, who immediately explained his style of play.

“Was he close to Napoli? I can’t reveal that, you should talk to the club, but I can tell you Napoli were interested in the player.

“There was contact, but nothing concrete, and unsurprisingly he stayed at Milan.”

The Rossoneri face Napoli this weekend, but Bacca won’t be any more or less keen to impress.

“There’s no particular desire by Bacca to make a good impression, he always puts in the same commitment.

“The tactical change by the Coach has been absorbed well by the team, they’re training very hard and Carlos fits very well into Montella’s plans.
