The Coach has won praise from across the football world for the style and results of his side, but there is an €8m release clause in his contract.

With the tactician on a comparatively low salary of €1.4m per year, there has been speculation that the Partenopei will look to offer him a new deal, but the owner was in no mood to discuss that today.

“It’s our own private business that the media must not get involved in,” De Laurentiis told RMC Sport.

“We converge on everything, but often that doesn’t mean finding the right paths. Either you’re young or you’re not, if you are then you can risk everything.

“You need to understand how much your travelling companions like to take risks, and Sarri is someone who has been taking risks all his life.

“With honesty and professionalism he managed to become what he is today. A lot of people play to 36 or 37 and then become Coaches.

“He couldn’t play but he studied a lot, and in the end he became a kind of genius. He came to Serie A recently, and Napoli stimulated him to give even more of himself.

“I hope we can do all of this together again.

“There’s still a long contact with Sarri and a release clause. If someone wants to take on this problem of the clause it would be legally sound and we’d step aside.

“In 14 years I’ve shown I can make great strides, at a club which practically didn’t exist anymore when I arrived.

“Everyone needs to have faith in this Napoli and in me, because it’s me who creates the right conditions to progress in a reality which I didn’t create.”
