Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis says Pepe Reina will stay but “with it being understood we’re looking around for the future”.
The Spaniard is out of contract at the end of the coming season, and it appears the Partenopei won’t offer him a new contract.

The Spaniard is out of contract at the end of the coming season, and it appears the Partenopei won’t offer him a new contract.
That has led to speculation that he could join Rafa Benitez at Newcastle United, but the Napoli patron says he’ll be staying.
“He has another year on his contract and wants to stay with us, even up to expiration,” De Laurentiis insisted in an interview with La Repubblica.
“I’ll talk to him soon though, with it being understood we’re looking around for the future.
“On [Geronimo] Rulli, the Argentinian number one who plays in Spain, they tell me he’s good with his feet and that could be useful for us.
“The question of the goalkeeper is less talked about though, and it’s good that way.
“All I’ll say is that Rafael wants to play and to leave, even if he’s not so poor. [Luigi] Sepe is younger and can have patience, we’ll see.”
De Laurentiis also discussed the transfer market, including rumours that Faouzi Ghoulam will leave this summer.
“Will he stay? Of course, he has a contract, why should he leave? No starters will leave. [Adam] Ounas? We look forward to his medicals and signing.
“As for Mario Rui, our players must be quick and do everything at speed, we always play on the attack. We want others to worry about us.
“The future? We’re ranked 15th in Europe having been ranked 55th. Now the club is worth at least €1bn. I have no intention of selling though and my movie is far from the end credits.
“I look forward, never back.”
