“We are riding high in the table, we beat Juventus both in the Supercoppa Italiana and Serie A,” the defender told Rai Sport.
“This is all wonderful, but we must continue, because a setback is always around the corner. Our objective is to qualify for the Champions League, and considering our current form, we can’t aim any lower than that.
“The teams behind us are going strong too, so we’ve got to keep our guard up.”
Considering Lazio are six points off the joint leaders Inter and Juventus with a game in hand, can they even challenge for the Scudetto?
“Obviously, that is a dream of all children when they want to become football players, but we have to take it one game at a time. If we are still up there in March or April, then yes, we could not hide our ambition then.
“This is a strong team and we know that on our day, we can beat anyone. That is something that gives us a lot of confidence.”
Lazio are the favourites against Napoli to get a club record 10th consecutive Serie A victory, as the Partenopei are on poor form and decimated by injuries.
“I saw Napoli play and they create seven-eight chances every game. It’s difficult to explain how they can have only 24 points with that squad, but they’ll come to the Olimpico to attack, as always.”
