Milan have officially loaned Santiago Gimenez to FC Porto with an option to buy at the end of the season, becoming an obligation if certain conditions are met for a total of circa €20m.

The negotiations had been dragging on for several weeks, with coach Francesco Farioli eager to bring the Mexico international to the Estadio do Dragao.

The breakthrough arrived when Porto added certain conditions for the purchase option to potentially become an obligation, including the number of appearances he makes for the team this season.

If that is confirmed, then the total figure paid ought to reach around €20m, specifically €18m fixed fee and a further €2m in add-ons.

That is already significantly less than Milan spent in order to buy the centre-forward from Feyenoord in January 2025, which was over €30m.

Following an initially strong spell, he struggled with poor form and injuries, culminating in ankle surgery in December 2025.

Gimenez leaves Milan with just seven goals and six assists in 37 competitive appearances.
