Lille President Olivier Létang reveals Jonathan David has received an offer to renew his expiring contract and insists his team will need a ‘perfect performance’ to get a result against Juventus in the Champions League.

Lille host Serie A giants Juventus in the Champions League round 4 this evening.

The Bianconeri will be closely monitoring David, not only because the Canada international has already scored 12 goals across all competitions this term but also because they are one of the clubs interested in securing his signature at the end of the season.

David’s contract with Lille expires in June, so if he doesn’t sign a new deal, he can join any club for free in 2025.

“We are talking to Jona. He has an offer in his hands and has said that LOSC is his club, but our discussions must remain private,” Létang told Tuttosport.

It’s been reported that Juventus’ Serie A rivals Inter have already opened preliminary talks with David’s entourage, but Newcastle and Barcelona are also monitoring the 24-year-old.

“He is in a positive moment, but he’s putting in positive performances because he has a team behind him, a group of players that allow him to score goals,” continued Létang.

“The collective will be the key in the game [against Juventus]. Like against Real Madrid, we’ll need a perfect performance if we want a result. Juventus are the favourites, but we have our own qualities.”

Juventus and Lille have six points in three Champions League matches, but the La Liga side already beat Real and Atletico Madrid.
