Injured Inter duo Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi are due to return to training under Simone Inzaghi in the coming days, which provides the Nerazzurri with a boost ahead of their Champions League clash against Arsenal at San Siro on Wednesday night.

Inter receive double boost ahead of Arsenal in Champions League

Both Calhanoglu and Acerbi went off injured during the first half of Inter’s 1-0 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico earlier in October. They have both since sat out of the 1-0 UCL victory over Young Boys, the 4-4 Derby d’Italia draw with Juventus and the 3-0 win over Empoli last night.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, both players are due to return to training in the next few days.

Inter will have to play Venezia at home in Serie A on Sunday, and there is still a chance that both Calhanoglu and Acerbi could be involved then, but with an important Europan tie against Arsenal coming up just afterwards, it would not be a surprise to see them both rested.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that they will only play against Venezia in ‘extreme’ circumstances, which means that a return against Arsenal  is currently the most likely scenario.
